God's Love Grows Here!

Adult Groups

Mission Seekers
The Mission Seekers is a mission-focused organization open to all women of the church.  This group meets the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 7:30 pm. They concentrate on local mission opportunities including visiting and ministering to homebound members, nursing homes, and women's prisons as well as volunteering at blood drives and Gleaning for the World. Other interests include our Guatemala child, church sponsored missionaries, and other outreach opportunities as they are led by the Holy Spirit.

Methodist Men
The  Methodist Men is open to all the men of the church.  They meet on the 2nd Wednesday night of each month at 7:30 pm.  The UMM engage in mission projects in the community (such as Gleaning for the World) and in projects to meet the needs of the church.  The MM minister to our homebound and hospitalized members, sponsor pancake and spaghetti dinners, sponsor a “Women’s Night Out,” a summer picnic, and many other wonderful activities.

Super Seniors
Joan, Susie, and Carolyn just LOVE planning special activities for our senior adults.  There is a monthly event, time and date is a little flexible, but usually on the third Tuesday.  The senior adults enjoy wonderful food, interesting programs, loving fellowship, and occasional field trips.

Homebound Communion
The church family of MMC celebrates Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month, at both worship services.  Baskets are lovingly prepared and consecrated during these services, and then teams go out that afternoon to serve Holy Communion to our homebound members and friends.  Teams also go to Babcock Manor and Appomattox Health & Rehab Center.  They lead a mini worship service and serve the elements to those that want to participate.  These special visits are cherished by those that are unable to come to church for whatever reason.

Opportunities
Opportunities for adults to engage in mission, worship, and fellowship are too numerous to list.  There are many work groups and committees that plan and carry out the work of the church such as property and grounds, missions, worship, children’s ministries.  Opportunities to participate in worship include choir, hand bells, worship assistants, ushers, greeters, audio/visual technicians, flowers, etc.  Mission outreach projects include Gleaning for the World, Jesus Center, Food Bank, Clothing Exchange, etc.  We have a relay-for-life team, fellowship meals, First Fridays for fun and fellowship, exercise/walking times, Homebound Communion, and LOTS more!
